Bookies tipping Hughes for Fulham post

Former national team boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is also in the running to be named as the latest manager for English Premier League side.

Former Blackburn and Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has emerged as the bookmakers’ favourite to take over at English Premier League club Fulham following the recent departure of Roy Hodgson to Liverpool.

After a distinguished playing career with the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea, Hughes moved into management with Wales in 1999 before progressing into the English Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 2004. Four years later he was named as the boss of free-spending Manchester City and guided the side to tenth spot during his first season on charge before being sacked seven months later.

SkyBet.com is offering odds of 11/10 on 46-year-old Hughes being named the new manager for Fulham while WilliamHill.com, Bet365.com, BetFred.com, Ladbrokes.com, StanJames.com, VictorChandler.com, Coral.co.uk and PaddyPower.com show 6/4.

Regarded as one of the most talented young British football managers around, Hughes would have to relocate from the northwest of England to London in order to manage Fulham but this may not be a problem considering the rumoured money on offer. BlueSq.com and 888Sport.com shows odds of 7/4 on the Welshman taking over at Craven Cottage while punters can get 19/10 from Betfair.com.

Another name possibly in the running is former England, Mexico and Ivory Coast boss Sven-Goran Eriksson. The Swede already has an offer on the table from the Ivory Coast but is hoping to speak to Fulham Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed about the possibility of a return to management in the English Premier League.

SkyBet.com has the 62-year-old at odds of 13/8 to be named as the latest Fulham manager this season followed by Ladbrokes.com, StanJames.com and PaddyPower.com offering 2/1.

Slightly longer, 888Sport.com, WilliamHill.com, BetFred.com and BlueSq.com are going with 9/4 on Eriksson being the new boss of ‘The Cottagers’ while bettors can get 5/2 at Coral.co.uk and VictorChandler.com alongside 76/25 from Betfair.com.
